NCC Romania, together with NCC Netherlands, another competence center within the project, organizes "HPC in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning", a training event on November 16, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., in an online format.
The National Institute for Research & Development in Informatics - ICI Bucharest, through the European program EuroHPC JU, is part of the EU project National Competence Centers in the Framework of EuroHPC (eurohpc-ju.europa.eu), which aims to establish a National Center for Competence in HPC (High Performance Computing). Within the European project, through this center, a skills network in HPC is being created that will operate as an interface to facilitate access to resources and capacities in this field, both from Romania and Europe (through the EuroCC network).
Thus, in order to increase the level of HPC competence in Romania and to develop ideas and partnerships in the field, NCC Romania, together with NCC Netherlands, another competence center within the project, organizes "HPC in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning", a training event on November 16, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., in an online format. This training is dedicated to both private and public sector entities interested in new technologies and their applicability in the HPC field.
The training will cover both theoretical and practical areas. Among the topics are supercomputing, the basic use of a supercomputer, machine learning topics, and convolutional neural networks. The practical part will cover two sessions of hands-on exercises using both a supercomputer and PyTorch. These exercises will provide the opportunity to access an HPC infrastructure.
So, in the first part of the day, you will understand the structure of HPC systems and learn how to work on HPC infrastructure. Afterward, you will experience the potential of artificial intelligence in an HPC environment, focusing on machine learning and the use of different networks, as well as the applicability and possible limitations of these solutions. Also, there will be a question session at the end of the event, where you are welcome to clarify any concerns you may have.
To receive your login details, please complete the following registration form: https://form.jotform.com/220201831822038. The practical part will consist of using an HPC infrastructure, which involves credential-based authentication. The infrastructure allows access to 20 participants, and the proposed exercises are recommended for people with technical knowledge. Credentials will be distributed later, by email, within the limits of available places, following the registration of participants who have expressed interest in the practical session. We note that the exercises carried out during the event can also be followed without accessing the infrastructure used.
